A NEW CREATION
“Therefore if any person is [ingrafted] in Christ (the Messiah) he is a new creation (a new creature altogether); the old [previous moral and spiritual condition] has passed away. Behold the fresh and new has come!” 2 Cor. 5:17.
Greetings to you in the precious Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Today we live in a world which considers self-will as freedom. Everybody focuses on self-will and applying this principle in a family ends up in tragic chaos. That is the reason King Solomon said, “Do not depend on your own understanding” (Pr. 3:5). When elderly persons advice, Teens and Youth of this age never want to accept them and they say, “But that belongs to your age”. But according to the Word of God, “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death” (Pr.14:12)
Paul teaches us in his books that we could overcome this attitude of self-will by committing our life into the mighty hands of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Only when Jesus lives in us, we will die in self or rather self-will dies when Jesus lives in us. Now I want to show what happens in our life when Jesus comes into our hearts.
- YOU BECOME TEMPLE OF GOD
According to 1Corinthians 3:16, “Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s spirit lives in you?” If you become a temple of God, and your spouse, your children, the whole family, temples of Christ, what a joy your whole family would be! It will be a real heaven on earth! No more anger, no more bitterness, no more “I, me and mine” and love replaces all these things! – love will overflow, love will forgive, every one of you become patient, kind. You live for the welfare of the other, no more self-seeking. The whole family will rejoice with truth! Your family will be protected, trust each other and joy and happiness will overflow. - YOU WILL WALK IN LOVE WITH OTHERS
In 1 John 3:14 we read “We know that we have passed over out of death into Life by the fact that we love the brethren (our fellow Christians)” Jesus has set an example for us to follow Him in exhibiting the true love of God, which dwells in us if we are a temple of God. We will have a real concern for others. People in real agony, they want to pour out their heart to somebody and we will be there to listen to them for hours. You become a counselor of God, listening to such people till they empty their heart. You start living for others, leading people to the love of Jesus. - YOU WILL SHARE HIS JOY IN YOU WITH OTHERS.
A man who has taken Jesus into his heart could never keep this joy to himself alone. He would like to share it with others and would lead others to Christ, not only Christians but Hindus, Muslims or rather anybody whom he meets (John 4:28, 29). “Come, see” will be our motto. He would like to share the joy he is experiencing in Christ with others (Mark 5:19). - YOU WILL START HATING SIN AND EVIL WAYS.
A man, who has accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior, begins to hate sin and the evil ways of the world. He is separated from this world. He experiences “It is no more I but Jesus lives in me”. Old things will pass away and everything will become new. Psalm 1, verses1and 2 will be fulfilled in his life. He will be toiling for holiness in his family. There will be regular family prayers, Bible readings and meditations. He will bless his children when they go out with the blessings found in Numbers 6:24 to 26. - YOU WILL SHOUT “THANK YOU LORD”
You will have the true peace and joy through the Holy Spirit in the heart! The burden of sin and its consequences are rolled away. Guilt is gone! You are overflowing with gratitude to God. Since this peace that the Lord has left in this world, the peace that passes all understanding, has engulfed you and me, we shout in joy “HOW GREAT THOU ART LORD”, “ALL HAIL THE POWER OF JESUS’NAME”.He is such a great awesome God! And the whole family will be shouting throughout the day “Thank you Jesus”
If you have accepted Jesus Christ and if you are living in Him, with Him, and for Him then your ‘self-will’ would have been dead. You will have peace and harmony with your spouse, children and family members. May the good LORD dwell in you, amongst you and give the real peace, His peace that He has left for us.
Prayer: Lord, dwell in me so that I may die in my self-will and be a temple of Your Holy Spirit that I may respect others especially my spouse. In Jesus Name I pray. Amen.
